It was mid august of nineteen forty seven
The clock stroked at midnight
After more than two hundred years
India was awaken from hardships and struggles

Ask a bird caged in bars
What the beautiful blue sky seems to her
She breaks her wings and feathers
Flickering free to finally breathe in height

The tales that now glorify the pages of history
Each written by the blood of bravery
The jewel of freedom that adorns Mother India
Every pearl consist the heart of the martyrs

Who can ever comprehend
the devotion of her sons
Who laid their heads to grave
So their nation breathes this day
